I remember a band called Smith,Perkins and Smith, who backed Free - I bought their LP the next day at Ear-ere! Also saw CCS backing up the Groundhogs, and heard their version of Whole Lotta Love :) My introduction to Queen was when they supported Mot the Hoople!! He'd then try and give me the record I was looking for! Depeche Mode springs to mind. Also that shop had a certain smell to it. Your post took me back to my gothic yoof!
